The new year

Filed under: Uncategorized — Aaron @ 4:10 am

Well New Years Eve is getting close. I recommend that you skip the Cheap Champagne and bring a bottle of fancy belgian beer to you New Years Eve party. It comes in the same size bottle, with the same type of cork, and a good Belgian Triple can not be beat, in my book. I find that many people are excited to seeing something other than the typical Champagne on New Years Eve.

Here at the brewery we are busy planning for the new year. No major announcements yet, though I can say there is quite a bit of talk about putting up an expansion next to the existing building. *nudge nudge*

Sales are pretty brisk right now at the brewery… A real surprise for this time of year. People are buying beer by the case and plenty of 1 liter bottles.. for their New Years parties, I assume. I hope this will translate into some good winter sales, that would help us more than anything.

A little birdy told me we might be getting a tap at the Deadwood in Iowa City soon. I would suggest you go there and ask for it if you are a regular customer.

Have I recommended The New Old Capitol pub and brewery in Iowa City yet? Their Straight Pipe Milk Stout is on tap now and it is wonderful. I sort of ‘helped’ (or hindered?) Paul brew it, and I got to peak at his secret recipe. It was shockingly simple. Just british 2row, a bit of wheat, 55lbs of roasted barley, and 25lbs of Lactose. And some hops, I can’t remember what.. I should have wrote that down!

Thats all for now.. I’m on my way down to St. Louis to drink some Schlafly beer… See you all next year!
