Hooray for the Schild Brau! We are very proud to do even better than last year. 2nd place out of 25 entries is no small feat! And winning two years in a row shows that we have some good consistency in our beer!
The Oktoberfest struck out. With over fifty entries, the competition was stiffer than I expected in that category. We’ll see what the judge comments say. Last time, they told me it was too malty for the style.
I really was expecting the White Ale to do better, with it have such great online ratings at beeradvocate.com. But apparently it wasn’t as well liked as Celis White. I’m surprised to see that Allagash White or the Brooklyn Wit didn’t place.
Well anyway, I need to get back to cooking brats at Oktoberfest here in Amana.

Hi,
I was at Oktoberfest. PLEASE, next year could you triple the order of Millstream Oktoberfest Commemerative glasses. Last year you ran out Sunday, this year you ran out Saturday afternoon. I was devistated!!! And I’m not sure what your cost is on the stoneware 0.5L steins, but don’t you think $19.95 retail is a little steep?
Well, nonetheless, CONGRATULATIONS on Schild Brau! I’m finding it at more and more places around the Quad Cities, even on tap! YUM! I think the best thing about it is that it is really in a class/glass all by itself. I’ve never tasted another lager like it and part of the joy of drinking it is in its unique flavor.
Unfortunately, the Ox Yolk (?) in Amana was serving Oktoberfest from a keg that was distinctively skunky. I was gonna tell you that, but I forgot. It was all I could do to get to the brewery as fast as possible, wife and 2 kids in tow, to wash out the flavor with a fresh Schild Brau from your tap.
I also got 2 cases of Cream Soda. I’m really gonna miss this one, guys, and I HATE to see it go.
Well, keep up the GREAT work. Can’t wait for Schokolade Bock! Merry Christmas!

Glad you had such a good time!
On the glasses, I can say that yes, we will have more next year. We have already talked about that. We want them to limited though, but it would be nice if the lasted until sunday.
Believe or not, those stone steins costs us a pretty penny. And we have to get order an unbelievable amount of them to meet their minimum order. We need to charge appropriately to make a profit (its amazing how much capital we have tied up in salesroom items).
The Ox Yoke is notorious for its long draft line to the upstairs bar. We are trying to work with them on this issue. I was in the basement this weekend and our beer was fine…. so YMMV.
Cheers
Aaron
