Rain Delay

Filed under: Uncategorized — Aaron @ 11:41 am

Its a crappy rainy day, so Doug over at John’s Grocery has called it a rain day. We will re-schedule the Iowa City Park/Riverside Theatre Tasting for June 19, Saturday, 3pm to 5pm.

I was just at Rate beer.com and saw that we already have SIX ratings for the John’s Generations White Ale, making it our most highly rated beer (the bock is also well liked). They are all very positive! I love to see that. Its a pretty cool site. However people are still rating the Millstream Lager, which is a beer we have not made since Feb 2001, so I do have to wonder how many beers some people have before doing thier ratings…

    Hey Aaron,
I agree with your comments on ratebeer.com and their including Millstream Lager. I like these sites that give insight into beers, but often it ends up people loading up all their old tasting notes.

It also seems that certain beers get ranked highly and make a run at the top by word of mouth. All in all, they are great sites for us craft beer fans as we try to educate the masses, so I guess I should shut up!

    Cheers!

I have to agree with you. I think of these sites as a relection of how a beer is currently not how it was a few years ago. If people are going to upload their old tasting notes, they should put a date as to when it was tasted. That explains how there could be GOOD comments in 2004 about a beer we have not made in three years! (And I have a bottle or two still in the brewery, and it hasn’t aged well!)

    Aaron
