Snow
We are having a nice white winter here in Amana. I was stuck here brewing a stout last night. I know, I know, I should have delayed the brew, but I really didn’t think that the weather forcasters had it right! We just got snow, it couldn’t happen again right? Wrong. We got a nice five inches of snow. It was the first time I ever have had to shovel the dock before pushing out the spent grains cart.
I was here brewing until 11pm. The roads were too bad to go back to Iowa City, so I ended up staying at Teresa’s house in Homestead. It was difficult just to get up the hill to Homestead, it was very slick. It made it up the hill going real slow, trying not to look at a bunch of deer on the side of the road staring at me.
And then my car got stuck in a drift just infront of her driveway
Nice.
We pushed out my car this morning, I now i’m my way to start the day nice and early! I hope the farmer comes to get the spent grains before they freeze. They really do turn into concrete if you let that happen.. Trust me, I know.
The second batch of White ale is ready and patiently waiting ATF label approval. We have sold most of the first half batch just in kegs! If you haven’t sign up there is a beer and chocolate tasting tommorrow at 3pm at the Motley Cow in Iowa City. The White Ale will be there paired with orange flavored chocolate. Yum!
