Happy Halloween
Today i’m making Schild Brau. Normally I would not brew on Halloween, but we really need the beer. We have getting lots of press about the GABF medal, and the sales are looking to be good for the next month.
Chris, my brewing partner, has come up with a tap handle for the Schokolade Bock. Its a snowman he found at hobby lobby. I think he is cheating, but I have to admit, it looks pretty cool. The Bock should be ready next week. It had better be or I think our salesman, Dan, is going to keg it off himself!
In other news, the hop harvest is reported to have FAILED in Germany. I’m a little panicked about this, because our Schild Brau relies on Hallertau Hersbrucker from Germany. It’s a pretty common hop, unlike Hallertau Mittlefruh, so maybe we’ll be ok. I’ve tried substitutions, but they just don’t taste the same. For more info check here: http://www.johbarth.com/news.htm .
